Give A Little Bit...

Hello all my favorite readers and bloggers! I hope everyone had a great weekend and a good week last week. Since I took a blogging break, I'm afraid I'm a out of the loop a bit. I'm trying to get back up to speed with all my favorite reads.

I'll admit this past week was really nice. I pretty much cut the computer out of my life except for work-related purposes and emails and skype with Stonewall. The first two days were hard because I had mild withdraw symptoms, but once the shakes subsided, I felt oddly relaxed. Actually, it was really pretty wonderful.

For the first time in a while I didn't worry about whether or not what was going on in real life was a good blog post or not. I didn't scramble to my computer so I could type out a post or publish a picture rather than focusing on the here and now. I also didn't worry about whether or not I felt like I was letting other bloggers down because I wasn't reading their posts and commenting. Instead I focused on sitting on the floor with Lil' Mootz and playing with him and making him laugh.

That being said, I did miss my blog and writing. I love to write. It's one of the few things in life I feel that I am truly and honestly good at and I just plain enjoy for no other reason than it makes me feel good.

So I've made a few decisions in the past few days. I'm going to keep blogging. Like I said, I love writing and blogging is one of the easiest ways for me to keep on writing as often or as little as I want. However, I'm going to cut back on the amount of blogs I read. I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the blog relationship bloggers have. You read mine, I'll read yours is the mentality and it works. However, it's not working so well for me right now.

This past week I actually went to bed at a decent time every night and I caught up on my reading (Books, that is) because I didn't spend 3 or 4 hours every night trying to read and comment on all the blogs I felt like I had to read so I wouldn't disappoint the author. I mean, I love getting comments, so I know other authors do too. I'm a people-pleaser and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by not reading their blog. So I spent more time reading blogs at night than I did sleeping, even if the other blogger didn't return the favor.

Well, like I said, that's gonna stop. I'm going to focus on my blog and if you read my blog, I'll read yours. I'm not going to read your blog just because you're a follower or you "Blogged" me or because you left one comment 4 months ago. I have a six month old baby, a husband who's earning a paycheck 24/7, and believe it or not, an actual life. Yes, there are many blogs out there that I really enjoy reading, but if I'm not feeling the bloggy luv from you, it's just not going to work for me.

This is a classic case of "it's not me, it's you."

We're going to start a give and take relationship. You can't just take, people. You gotta give a little too.

For those of you who for several weeks now have been showing me lots of bloggy comment luv:

I think that's a great blogging philosophy you're undertaking and one that we all (myself included) should keep in mind. Sometimes we can get so wrapped up on the Web that we forget what's going on in our lives.

I'm glad you decided to keep writing! I enjoy your blog and like to keep up. I am always surprised when someone actually comments on mine!

I think it's great that you made that decision! It is easy to feel obligated but overall you have a blog for you benefit and you don't want to make it something that adds more work instead of helping you relax. Welcome back and stand strong :)

Glad you had a good break but I'm glad your back too! I know how you feel. I was reading way too many blogs and I had to cut back the other day. I felt bad but there was just wayyyyy too many!

I know what you are saying. I started my blog for ME. Having others read and comment is just an added benefit. I follow less than 20 blogs which is enough to keep me from getting bored but few enough that I don't get overwhelmed. Hope all is well in your world.

It seems like we've all taken a little break from blogging. I think you have every reason to take a break, or ease up on blogging.

I took a break because things have been busy, but I look forward to continuing to read! :)

Girl you are so right on. It's so easy to get caught up ini the "gotta do" of blogging. I find myself staying up late also, hours after the kids and then have to get up in the morning with them, tired!
You've got a good plan, one I need to borrow, LOL!!
