And not in the, "Oh my gosh! I caught my child eating dog food today. Ew!" way.
But more in the, "About twice a day I have to dig dog food out of his mouth and it's getting annoying, so why do I even bother?" way.
And so I'm in a bit of a quagmire.
Obviously, if dog food was meant to be consumed by humans it would simply be called food. Aside from the fact that it probably tastes worse than it smells, it probably also contains little bits of horse poo and cow hair along with that ground up corn meal that's "real lamb" and what not. So not FDA-approved. But then again, I have my doubts about things like Spam and puddin' as well.
On the other hand, the kid must like it or why else would he be going after the Kibbles N' Bits instead of his puff crackers? The dog food may not be an ideal meal, but supposedly it contains meats and veggies. It's a complete meal, plus it's specially formulated to help regulate weight. It's certainly not going to kill him and really, isn't that the biggest concern? Should I really continue to waste money and time on human food when the kid is more than happy to eat as one of the pack?
I'm between a rock and a hard place here, folks. A rock and a hard place.

Well...my husband LOVES Milk Bone dog treats and he's just fine... :0P
lol...well, whatever is cheaper will work I guess. Just kidding! I think it's both hilariously cute & gross that he keeps going back to the dog food. Maybe it's just a phase *shrugs*.
just cook it first and then you don't have to worry so much?
I used to eat dog food when I was little. The bag was always open and in easy reach.
My husband had an uncle that always ate dog food.... He ended up growing up to be the tallest person in the family (a good 5 inches over the record height too).
And did you know, dog food testers are actually people, not dogs. So it would have to kinda be safe lol.
Wow. That is quite the predicament. Seriously funny, but again, a predicament. What if you put his puffs in a dog dish? Do you think he'd eat them then? Maybe the dog food obsession is slightly because he loves the reaction? Or maybe he saw the kibbles commercial and was sold. Good luck!!
I suppose it could be worse. I've never tried it so I'm not sure about the taste. I take it he's not a picky eater.
Ha ha ha, too funny!
I know! It's always interesting to see what new thing my 21 month old has put in his mouth this time...coins, checkers, a piece off of a plastic toy!
Haha, Hmmm.... I don't know! I guess if it's not hurting him then it's ok.
Our boys are the same age... Mr Maks turned 15 months old today! And Maks has hit the stage where he barely eats anything at all... I have had to resort to adding carnation mix to his milk after every mean cause he didn't eat enough. He isn't a picky eater, just doesn't want to eat at all!
He went through a dog food stage... now he prefers to swim in the dog water. He will come walking out with soaking wet feet and pants hem, but a huge grin on his face!
LOL. I'm not gonna lie those Beneful commercials for the Beef Stew make me crave beef stew...
Oooo my parents told me I use to eat a lot of dog food. In fact, I use to dip it in our dog's water to soften it.
Now I cannot type that sentence without making a gross things.
I'm sure he will grow out of it, haha, just in case you were worried :)
This post cracked me up! Wet cat food used to magnetically draw one of my little sisters...
I'm so happy I found this! My sister has been driving herself crazy because her two-year-old granddaughter has developed an "obsession" with eating the puppy's dry dog food. On the upside, the two year old always shares her cereal and strawberries with the puppy! Both seem happy...and healthy so far :D
