25 Days of Christmas: Day 2 - Christmas Traditions

I was over at Crazy Shenanigans yesterday and saw that she was co-hosting The 25 Days of Christmas with Star's Pink World.  Since my motivation for blogging has been very meh lately, I thought this might help me keep going throughout the holiday season. Plus, the list of topics looks fun!

I missed day 1 yesterday, but the topic was decorations and I haven't put any decorations up yet, so we'll just re-visit that topic at a later date.

So on to day 2 with Christmas Traditions....

Tradition #1

Every year we visit Christmas Candylane at Hershey Park.  The tradition started on November 26, 2005, when Stonewall took me there for our first date.  Last year, we took Lil Mootz there for the first time.  There's something wonderful about getting all bundled up to eat s'mores (although on our first date there they didn't have s'more because they ran out of chocolate.  Just a tad ironic for Hershey Park...), drink hot chocolate, visit reindeer, and ride our favorite Hershey Park rides.

Tradition #2

Every Christmas Eve we read The Night Before Christmas.  Last year we also read Advent Storybook: 24 Stories to Share Before Christmas.  We'll read those stories again this year, starting tomorrow.  I would also like to start doing an actual advent calendar, but I haven't been able to find one that I really like.

Tradition #3

On Christmas Eve we also watch A Christmas Story.  This tradition started many many years ago.  Once my sister and I got old enough to decide where we wanted to spend each holiday regardless of our parents' divorce order, we started spending Christmas Eve with our dad.  A Christmas Story became part of the evening one year and we've kept it going ever since.

Tradition #4

Last year also saw the start of a well known and time honored tradition: visiting Santa Claus.

I can only hope that every year Lil Mootz is as happy with this tradition as he was the first year.  I'm not betting my Christmas cookies on it though...

What are your favorite Christmas traditions?

I can't say this is a tradition...yet, but I would like to start a tradition of baking cookies with my children and their children. You up for it?

I could definitely go for that tradition!

This will be our first year for the Santa adventure :)
We always pick out a special ornament for our tree, to represent our year. So far it's the one tradition we really have. More to come :)
