1/2 Marathon Training Begins!

My mom and I are officially training for the San Diego Rock N' Roll Half Marathon in June with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

Last Thursday was the official kick-off party.  We got to meet some of our teammates and our coach and mentors.  We also received more information about our honored teammate.  I'm not going to post anything about her here, but learning more about her has definitely helped take walking this half marathon and raising the money for LLS to the next level.  It's more about someone and helping real people now, not just about the marathon.

Our coach handed out our training schedule.  Every Saturday morning at 8:00 for the next 15 weeks we'll be walking 3 to 12 miles.

Which brings me to this past Saturday...

We had out first training!  And guess what? We were on time!  Actually, we were early.  That almost never happens.  That just goes to show how dedicated we are to this. I totally think you should donate $8 because we were 8 minutes early...

Seriously...someone needs to take me up on that.  For every minute we're early on Saturday AMs you'll donate a $1.  Any takers?

My mom and I walked our first 3 miles in one hour. Considering that was my first try at any sort of exercise in about 2 years I was pretty proud of myself for walking that much.  We working on getting down to 16 minute miles.

This week we're mall walkers!  We're aiming for 4 miles next Saturday, so we're doing our weekly training at the mall.

Wish us luck with our weekly goal by donating to the LLS by clicking on the donate widget up on the right!
