Swans And A Combat Patch

I was having a major pity party for myself earlier today. I even wrote a post and everything.

Then I received a package from Stonewall.

I'm still in pity party mood a little bit, but I'd rather post about my Mother's Day package from my Baby Daddy.

Once I got the box out to my car, I tore into that baby like termites into a log cabin. I couldn't open it fast enough. No, I, literally, couldn't open it fast enough as Stonewall had taped that thing shut with about 14 rolls of tape. For Mother's Day I got a swan necklace and a really pretty crystal swan figurine. I'll admit though, my favorite Mother's Day gift was getting to talk to Stonewall on Skype on Sunday.

Stonewall also sent home his combat patch. He wrote in the card, "I think you and Little Man deserve it much more than I do."

I read that and I sat in my car and cried while holding his patch and missing him something fierce. I understand why he sent it home, but that doesn't change the fact that I would rather be holding my husband instead of a patch.

I think I'm going to frame the patch with the deployment certificate and hang it in Lil' Mootz's room. That patch is being earned with blood, sweat, and time that Stonewall sacrificed instead of being home with his son. And I want Lil' Mootz to have all that he can of Stonewall right now.

Framing the combat patch for Lil' Mootz sounds like a great idea! Sorry about the pity party, hope you feel better soon.

So sweet...not a lot of people understand the "combat" that families at home endure. Stay strong!

What a lovely thing for him to do! I almost choked up reading it, to be quite honest.

Hi! I think you're blog is so cute! I am also an Army wife! I am very proud of my soldier too. He was deployed twice but this was before we met. He was first in infantry and for the past 4 yrs he's been a recruiter but they told us he might go back out so deployment is a possibility in the near future. I really liked this post, it gives me a little glimpse to what I could possibly experience down the road. I too would cry holding that patch. I know though that God is in control and that HE will see us through, proctect our marriage and provide for us if my hubby was to go overseas. My strength is my Lord and Savior! I'me very glad you got this wonderful mother's day gift! Consider it a kiss from the Lord as He protects your hubby!!!

Hugs, Susan

Aw, that was really cute that he sent you the patch. I probably would have lost it as well and started crying.
