DBW: Department Boot Warehouse

There is a boot for everything and my husband wants them all.

Him - "I spent a good amount of money today. About $***.00"

Me - "Okay. Which account did you use?"

Him - "Commerce."

Me - "Okay."

Pause. Him, rather excitedly - "Don't you want to know what I bought?!"

Me - "What'd you buy?"

Him, like a kid in a candy store - "A new pair of boots!"

Pause. Me - "Why? There are three pairs of never been worn boots sitting in our bedroom."

Him - "Those are warm weather boots. These are desert boots." (I could just hear the, "Duh!")

Me - "What?! So desert boots, which I assume are for warm weather, are different from warm weather boots?!"

Him - "Yeah. And this pair is so comfy."

Me, laughing - "Oh, babe. You are never again allowed to get on my case for buying another pair of shoes."

So apparently he needs the three pair of warm weather boots sitting up in our bedroom, which I can only assume are somehow different from one another (one pair might be for when he's walking on gravel, another pair is for warm weather not above 85 degrees, and the other is probably for splashing in puddles), along with a pair of warm weather desert boots. (And let's not forget that he bought a pair of desert boots during his first deployment, but I'm sure the new ones are solar powered.)

I know somewhere in storage is a cold weather pair. There's probably another pair for cold icy weather. I'm pretty sure on his Christmas list was a pair for fall that can only be worn before the leaves turn different colors. Then there's that pair in the closest that, I'm guessing, is for May 26 only. He probably has a pair for tsunamis even though he has never been near a tsunami or even an area that experiences tsunamis. Up next, are the anti-gravity boots for when the Army goes to Mars.

DSW has nothing on the boot section at the PX.

LOL that's hilarious! I thought *I* owned too many pairs of shoes!

I'll have to count the number of boots P has next time I'm in his closet. The boy has a lot of clothes. He likes to shop more than I do. :-p

LOL! I can totally relate. My DH works in construction estimating so he has to have the boots to visit job sites. He bought a pair of these desert boots because they are SO comfortable. His words, not mine. His Army bud recommended them.

Stopping by to welcome you to SITS!

AHHHH!!!!! Those are the same boots Kenny ALMOST bought! But he wants them because they're Chucks. I told him that if he gets those that he can't complain when I buy a few new pairs.

So far he hasn't bought them...yet, but I know it's only a matter of time! He was like a little kid in a candy store when he saw them.

It's ridiculous isnt it? flyboy has three sets of boots, one for desert flight suits, one for woodland flight suits, and one for cammies. Really folks one pair of boots couldnt work for all of them?! And the cost!!!! be still my heart.

It's fun when you are stationed at Ft Drum and they issue "mickey mouse" boots...pretty much these huge white boots that look like galoshes. Never wore them once while we were there. John did buy new boots recently himself
because when the Army issued him boots when they got back from a deployment, they had changed brands and the sizes weren't the same. He went on a 10 mile ruckmarch and this feet were so messed up that it looked like he'd been shot in the back of the foot. Biggest blisters ever...all because the shoe was too big!

Chris is like this with sneakers. If he could, he would buy a new pair every single day. he loves them

Are we married to the same man?!

I lost count of how many pair of boots I packed up in our last move- in every color and fabric and type of "toe". And oh yes, they NEED them all! Even the ones that match discontinued uniform styles: "I might want to wear those camping someday"!

ppfftt

But you're right- he cant say a darn thing if I come home from Target with a new pair of red pumps just because. So maybe it's a win win in the end ;)
