I find it (almost) funny that one of the reasons Obama was elected President was because he promised to end the war, bring our troops home, and improve the economy by decreasing our debt.
So he moves the troops out of Iraq (despite an increase in violence), sends more troops into another violent country, and of course, all this costs us even more money.
Yep. Great. I'd say, "Way to keep the campaign promises," but really, I'm so not surprised.

Yes, I've been scratching my head over this phenomenon lately too, thinking, why aren't they coming home?
Wow...I really need to keep up with the news.
Well, all I can say is I really hope the government knows what they're doing & I hope it works for the better.
Almost everything Obama does leaves me with a stomach ache.
Yeah, I've been wondering why their not coming home......
I may get myself in trouble here, but one of my biggest reason for supporting Obama was because he backed increasing troop levels in Afghanistan in his campaign.
I've done some digging to find articles from before his election that talked about his views. The first talks not only about how Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki backed Obama's withdrawal strategy in Iraq, but also touches on his trip to Afghanistan almost exactly a year ago to date (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/us/politics/20cnd-obama.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&sq=2008%20presidential%20campaign%20obama%20afghanistan&st=cse&scp=7) In that, he discusses using a 16-month timeline to draw down the troops which would put them out of Iraq in late May 2010.
Another article discusses his reaction after that trip to Afghanistan, saying that not only do we need more troops there, but also that he has supported sending two or even three brigades more to A-stan for awhile. That article is here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/20/obama.afghanistan/
I'm by no means an Obama-crazed woman. I do not agree with everything that he has done in office, I just had to put that out there because I really, REALLY supported and continue to support him on that issue. :)
Personally I hadn't felt the effects of the bad economy until the last couple months, since he has been stimulating it. ???
As for the troops, bring them home already. Those people are always going to hate us. Guard the border.
Not that I'm happy about it at all..because my husband is one of them going...but he promised to...
"end the war in Iraq"
his own personal loop hole...gotta love politics.
This is no suprise. Obama stated many times before he was elected he thought more troops were needed to go to Afghanistan. But the media coverage stressed his vow to get our troops out of Iraq. Then ill informed U.S. citizens voted for him as our savior almighty. I think Obama was more of a fad, and everyone wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Vote for the first black president who is going to bring our troops home, stop unemployment, fix our health care programs, who isn't a republican and walks on water!
I am so not a fan of politicians or politics in general. Mostly I prefer to live in my own little, tiny Wyoming town world.
Anybody who thought Obama was going to be different than any other politicians with his hope and change and actually keep his campaign promises was delusional. He's slick, and that got him right into office. The fact that he's a liar does not surprise me in the least bit. It looks as though much of the country is starting to see it, too.
Thanks for stopping by and following my blog. You're the best!
Ugh. I find it frustrating too. I have had people tell me that even though my husband is in Iraq, at least he is not there for a "war". They seem to think that since we turned control over to the Iraqis, they are there for an ice cream social!
Yes, things are not as bad as they were at the beginning (the FIRST time my husband was deployed), but if it is so calm and safe now, why is it that my husband has only been there since May 5, 2009, yet he has already lost 4 people?
Personally, I feel that by announcing there will only be a few troops left in Iraq, it painted a bullseye on those troops. In effect, it is like saying "OK, we are giving all the guards in the prisons the day off, exceot for these two, please be nice to them."
Yes, I agree that it is time to let Iraq be responsible for their own country. But I also think that Obama's half speak should not have gotten him elected.
I better not say anything about Obama lol it is never nice.
not surprised at all. i was expecting my hubby to be in afghanistan already, then they said november, then october, now Feb. I really try to not listen to dates anyway....cause for all i know he could be going any day.
Uh, no he never said he'd bring the troops home from Afganistan. He said some add'l troops will have to be sent there. The troops he promised to bring home were the troops in Iraq. Afganistan is where the real war on terrorism is, not Iraq. Everyone knew that except for the Texas hillbilly and his partner Satan.
To the second Anon. commenter~
I was being sarcastic in this post. I guess while it came across that way in my head, it didn't translate to the blog.
Actually, everyone did NOT know that is what Obama said. One of the reason many voters voted for Obama was because they believed Obama was going to bring our troops home from Iraq AND A-stan. I even posted about it http://www.morethananarmywife.com/2008/10/obamas-war-in-afghanistan.html, so, unlike many others in the general public, I was under no illusions that Obama was going to "Bring the troops home."
And if there is no terrorism in Iraq, then explain this to me: http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE56767120090709
i'm sorry, but i'm just not a fan of obama...i guess at this point all i can say is God bless our troops.
I'm not surprised... I don't think very many of us in the military were, when he started sending people to A-stan. There's a lot going on with our new president that seems a bit off compared to his promises.
I don't want his job, but I sure hope he knows what he's doing, for all our sakes.
I just love reading your blog!

I don't consider what's going on in Iraq to be terrorism. It's a civil war between the religious factions. They're terrorizing each other.
I'm also cringing over the whole socialized health care sceme going on. Anyone who would want socialized health care is someone who never had to expierence it.
