Twice this week I had someone make a comment about me being pregnant. Did you get that? Twice.

Once-
Me: I'll take a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
My mom laughs at me.
Me: What?! It's what I'm hungry for.
Cashier: You mean what the baby is hungry for.
Me: What?
Cashier pointing to my stomach: The baby.
Me: No, I'm not pregnant.
Twice-
I can't remember the exact conversation, but it once again involved a cashier pointing at my stomach and asking about "the baby."
And to think I was feeling pretty good this week because I lost two pounds. HA!
Now you'll have to excuse me. I'm going to go throw up the ten grapes that I had for dinner. If anyone sees my self-esteem can you please feed it some non-fat zero calorie water to perk it up a bit and send it home. Thanks.

haha...I think my self esteem is hanging out with yours.
ohhh i hate cashiers sometimes!! i can't even count the number of times when i was pregnant when they would look at me and say..Wow, you're HUUUUGE you look like you're gonna POP! at least once a day...i wanted to slap them all...
Girl. I feel for you. I lost my self-esteem, oh, about 17 months ago. (9 months of pregnancy, plus 8 months of baby.) :(
Oh my goodness! What do people say when you tell them you are not pregnant! How embarrassing...for them!
That is awful. I am sorry to hear that and please, please do not get down on the good ol' self-esteem. You are pretty much a single mother raising a son while your husband is away. You have way more important things that a cashier!!
I'm sure you're beautiful dear. People can be so rude and presumptuous!
Wow, I hate when people just speculate. I'm sure they just didn't have their contacts in and couldn't see well! Don't worry!
i just sucked down a cupcake for breakfast. at least you can feel good about your grapes. although the cupcake did have cream cheese in it does that count....
Don't feel bad. People can be very rude.
ugh, people should just NOT talk sometimes. i've been eating junk nonstop and we've been going out to eat and a ton of "send off" parties with their deployment coming up real quick. i don't remember what i used to weigh but i know it's not the number the scale showed this morning!
Seriously unless someone is wearing a "baby on board" shirt why oh why would you ask that. Some people!
I have seen your picture and you are a beautiful woman. So don't worry about what other people say.
The only people who matter in this world is what God thinks of you, and I know He thinks you are His precious beautiful creation. And your hubby! I am sure he thinks you are beautiful.
Geesh...some people! I swear. Ok, here's 3 stories for you. When I was a cashier at a bookstore on the "richer" side of town, we had a lot of ladies with HUGE wedding rings that would come in. Well, one day one of these ladies is in my line. She sees my wedding ring and says "oh, your ring is so 'cute'!" Thanks lady. It's small, but really?
Ok, more related story...apparently everyone thought I was just fat for the first 6 months I've been pregnant this time. I went to a few meetings and obviously looked pregnant. Well, when I told them I was due in August, they were like, you're pregnant? Thanks for thinking I was just fat. I appreciate it.
Ok, last one, and it makes me laugh everytime I think of it. Once when John and I were out shopping, I was trying on clothes and asked him if the outfit made me look fat. He said with the straightest deadpan face, "You look fat in everything" It was beyond hilarious. I started laughing so hard! I guess it was funny because I knew he was kidding.
Oh no. This is all to common of a problem. After 4 kids I have a tummy that makes me look pregnant. But I try to ignore people's comment about it. I figure I've said more then my fair share of stupid things and try to think of my body in a positive light. (Does that sound too hippie?)
It's just that our bodies have been blessed to bear a child, we should be proud of that right?
Several weeks ago, I went to an indian hospital to change my last name and this lady at registration asked if I was pregnant. Yeah, I'm with you on the whole puking up the 10 grapes I ate for dinner attitude.
