I don’t think I always give you guys an accurate portrayal of just how crazy I really am. So here’s a fine example…
Remember the new fabulous glasses I just got?
Well, they were a bit pricey. But I really really really liked them and I really really really wanted them. I was explaining this to my sister and bro-in-law when he said, “Just get your prescription and then go online and buy the glasses for cheaper some place else.”
As in: Not at my eye doctor?
I then had to explain to him why I could never do this.
While the same glasses for a cheaper price would be better appreciated by my bank account, NOT buying them at my eye doctor would just be plain selfish. Granted, her prices are a bit steep, but she’s just trying to make a living. Can I really fault her for that?
What if everyone bought their glasses some place else? If I bought my new glasses online, my eye doctor would lose money. If all her clients bought their new glasses elsewhere, she would lose a lot of money. In fact, she just might go out of business!
This causes twice the havoc.
- The poor woman is out of a job and now she’s sleeping on the street.
- Now I have to find a new eye doctor which I really don’t want to do.
And let’s face it, everything would just snowball.
All of her employees would be out of a job as well. Then the places that rely on her business, like the eye drop company, would lose her business. And let’s say other patients at other eye doctor offices are doing the same thing. Then they go out of business as well and the eye drop company loses even more business.
Then the eye drop company loses so much money, they go out of business also. And they’re out on the street too!
Do you see where this is going?
I can not be responsible for the downfalls of these businesses simply because I want to save $100.
And that is why I will not buy my new eye glasses, cheaper or not, at an online store.
And that is also why my husband will commit me one day. I just hope he doesn’t go the cheap route and put the fancy expensive places out of business. Let’s face it, if I’m getting four padded walls I want the memory foam ones used by NASA and not that egg crate bullshit.

Well my lovely....I actually worked for an "eye doctor" and "eye surgeon" before...(for like 10yrs)....and I would strongly advise NOT to buy them online. You need measurements, ie; PD, to wear glasses that are made just for YOUR prescription!
Anyways, enough of all of that...I think we need to be best friends! I love the way you think!!!!!
Makes perfect sense to me.
There's nothing wrong with that at all, you're just supporing your local business!
Props to you girl cause I think I would go with the cheaper ones without thinking twice about though you brought up some good points to keep in mind.
