This week's prompt:
Hand-me Downs, Thrift Stores, & Garage Sales for YOUR Kid's Clothes? What's YOUR Secret?
Well...
Lil Moots is my first kid, so we haven't reached the hand-me down stage yet.
....
I was a bit stuck on what to write for this post as I really have no hand-me down mama guilt. I read some of the other Mama Guilt posts and now I have Mama Guilt.
I am NOT, by any means, a thrifty mom. I don't clip coupons, I don't shop at places like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. I like going to yard sales, but I don't buy clothes at yard sales. All of my child's clothes are brand-spankin' new.
I'm a spoiled person. I like "new" and I want my first-born pride and joy in all new clothes.
I'm sure once I have more kids, they will have hand-me downs. However, when it comes to Lil Mootz...he has "new" all the way.
So the Mama Guilt part....I know I should feel guilty. But I don't. I feel guilty that I don't feel guilty.
I like spending the money I earn on new clothes for my baby.
Your turn. Share your mama guilt on your own blog and link back or post a comment below.

All of Grace's clothes are brand new too! I have had a few outfits given to me that came from goodwill and we just put those away and forget about them until she has outgrown them. I don't like the idea of putting an outfit on my child that someone else's kid has stained. I mean really??? And I learned my lesson about buying too far ahead of time... all of the clothes I bought on clearance for her to where this summer are too big.
Well, with my first child, all his stuff was pretty much new. But now with the second one, well, he gets the hand me downs!
Thanks for linking up and sharing YOUR story!
I ... um ... have a thing for lego! Mama guilt? I buy it all used, but it *is* getting a wee bit out of control (three under-the-bed roll away boxes of duplo and counting). And sometimes I don't want to share it with my kids. Really.
Stopping by via Mama Guilt Monday links, I think there is no shame in buying new if you can swing it. On the flip side you could pass along all those new 'used' clothes to someone who needs and wants hand me downs. Wouldn't that be fun!! A big here ya go blessing. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
If you buy new at Sears and join their Kid Advantage program and your child stains the outfit, or gets a hole in it before they outgrow it you can exchange it for the same brand/same size item and get a new one. That's not that important for prissy little girls, but when boys get around 4 yrs old they start wearing out the knees in their jeans, and if they skate or skateboard, keeping them in clothes without hols is a major battle. Our boys played hockey and on average we would exchange a pair of jeans six times before they outgrew them. So, for boys, pay a couple of dollars more the first time for jeans you can keep returning. For girls... just shop until you drop. Can a girl really have enough cute outfits?
And Sears has great sales, too. At least ours does. Not too long ago I found Grace 3 Christmas dresses for next year for just $3 or $4 each. I also got some really cute outfits. They were warm so she may not be able to wear them much but for the price I paid if she wears them once, I got my moneys worth.
