Fabulous Friday: Memorial Day Weekend Happenings

I should probably tell you all about my little vacation now that I’m back, but I’ll save that for next week.  Instead just a few quick things before the weekend…

Wish us luck at the Chili Cook-Off tomorrow! Meg’s Chili and Sammy’s Salsa is ready to kick some B-U-T-T!

I’ll be sharing all the fun details and pictures next week. (It’s going to be a picture-sharing week, what with the vacation and all…)

If you’ve always wanted to see the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. you’ll be able to this year right from your own living room!

The Military Channel will be showing the parade LIVE on May 31, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM EST.  During the parade the Military Channel will also premiere a series of one-minute videos that profile troops in Iraq and Afghanistan called “American Heroes.”

American_Heroes_Banner_01b You can also follow the parade by following @MilitaryChannel on Twitter.

DiscoverStonewall and I have several credit cards, but Discover is one of my favorites.  I even wrote them an email a couple years ago letting them know that I loved the way they do business.  Even with all the crazy new credit card changes, Discover still tops my list.

Well, Discover is at it again with their awesome services!

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Discover card purchases made at any U.S. Military Base worldwide, up to $1,000, will automatically earn Double Cashback Bonus or Double Miles.  This includes purchases made at commissaries, exchanges, shopettes/convenience stores, exchange catalogs, exchange online stores and exchange gas/service stations on-base.

Plus, you can donate your Cashback Bonus to Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to military families in need.

For more information please visit Discover.com/military.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!  Enjoy the BBQs and picnics!

And if you think of it, on Monday, send out a prayer or a thought or a wish (whatever strikes your fancy) to all of our troops and their families, both past and present.
