I Am Not A Cook.: Mother’s Day My Style

I’m sure I’ve mentioned that my style of cooking involves ordering off of a menu.  So you can bet your bumbushka I was NOT cooking this Mother’s Day.  Lucky for me this Mother’s Day was full of all sorts of yummy places to eat.

On Friday, my mom took my sister, Grandma, and me to our favorite local tea house for a spot of tea!

After getting all dolled up in the required uniform of really awesome hats…

We lunched on white chocolate ambrosia topped with toasted coconut, baby green salad with (the BEST) poppy seed dressing (I’ve ever tasted!) and pine nuts, scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, chicken corn soup, little-bitty tea sandwiches, and strawberry crepes.

And don’t forget the tea! We had mint and lime iced tea, lavender and cream hot tea, and raspberry caramel hot tea.

Is anyone else getting hungry because I am.

My amazingly awesome husband whisked me off to the land of chocolate on Friday evening for Mother’s Day (sans the baby boy).

Waste Reducing Soap

The hotel room had Hershey Kissed wallpaper and really weird soap.  Apparently, the soap company is reducing waste by getting rid of the often unused center portion of a bar of soap.  Right.

For dinner we went to Devon Seafood Grill. (And I’m told the hotel was all Stonewall, but Lil Mootz was behind the restaurant portion of my gift. He’s a boy after his own mommy’s heart.)  It was awesome! As the magazine review said it was not just dinner…it was a dining experience.

A Dining Experience Stonewall got the biggest bottle of beer I’ve ever seen.  They served it in wine glasses.  Fancy.

Except for my taste of really fancy beer, I had Bellini's! And not the frozen Bellini's they sell at some restaurants, but honest to goodness champagne and fruit puree Bellini's!  I was a wee bit tipsy by the end of our dining experience.

For starters we sampled the raw oysters.

Sucking Down OystersThen I had lobster bisque and Stonewall had the spicy Creole gumbo.  By this point we were both stuffed, but dinner and dessert were still forthcoming.

Friggin' Large Crab LegsI was supposed to dine on soft-shelled crabs, but sadly they sold out.  Instead, I had the king-crab legs.  There were huge! The claw was as big as my hand.  Stonewall had the halibut.

For our side dishes we both had the lobster mac n’ cheese  (yummy!) and the grilled asparagus. (Not so yummy. Ever wonder what licking a grill would taste like? Try this asparagus and you’ll know.)

Our dessert was my absolute favorite: Crème Brule! Crème Brule is heaven in a dish.

Heaven In A Dish

By 10:15 PM we were both being rolled out of the restaurant.  I think we both would have been pretty content to just go back to the hotel and fall asleep, but…

When I found out where we were going I donned some lingerie under my dress for later that night.

And I’ll be damned if I’m going to wear lingerie and not get some good use out of it.  I may be a mommy, but I am not a dead mommy.

What yummy deliciousness did your husband and kiddo’s cook (or order) up for you?

Sounds like your Mothers Day was full of great times! And lots of yummy-ness!!

My husband took me to Cracker Barrel for breakfast [my choice!!!] and then cooked some fresh caught spanish mackerel for dinner! It was wonderful!

We ordered pizza from Pizza Hut - which is what I wanted because my husband is on a health kick and doesn't eat much in the way of carbs - and I love carbs. And I got a call from both my daughter and my wonderful son in law who are in Japan, and all of my boys came to see me and brought me goodies.

My favorite word from this post was by far: bumbushka. Eight degrees of awesome right there!

And what a super fun family and husband you have. I'll take one of everything from your Mother's Day next year. Way better than my day. :)

Oh that sounds like the best mother's day weekend ever. I'm jealous. I cooked, but only because i'm a control freak and I won't let anyone else do it. :)

Love me some bellinis!

Lots of yummy love,
