Sisters of the Heart
by Sylvia
The neighbors seem awkward
Old friends slip away
Even the family
Doesn't know what to say
Blue Star in the window
Yellow ribbon 'round the tree
This is the part
That I let the world see
They don't know about
The nights I don't sleep
Or the times that I
Inexplicably weep
But there is a place
That I can always go
No need to explain
They already know
I am safe here
They've got my back
These women whose hearts
Are also in Iraq
Kuwait and Afghanistan
We're all miles apart
But distance doesn't matter
To sisters of the heart
I want to thank all of the military spouses out there, especially those military wives that I have gotten to know over the years here on my blog and on their blogs. You are all amazing. I admire every single one of you and the sacrifices you make every day for our country and for your husbands and families.
I don't know as much about the military lifestyle being a National Guard wife. However, when the deployments and the military shenanigans decide to drop on our house, I am so grateful for having the support and understanding of each and every one of you.
And so, I raise this Camouflage Cooler to all of you...
Here's to you, the one who waits, no matter the distance, no matter the time.
Here's to you, the one who fights your own battle at home, between the tears and sleepless nights.
Here's to you, the one who will never give up, even when everything around you seems to be falling down.
And here's to you, because while people may think they know how tough it is to be a hero, no one but us will ever know how tough it is to love one...

Happy Military Spouse day to you too!!!!
oh wow, that brought tears to me eyes. thank you for sharing. happy mil spouse day!
Nice post! I'm not a military spouse, but I really appreciate all that our soldiers do for us and all the sacrifices they make. And I am a military Grandma - so, I completely understand what it's like for other Military Grandma's to be thousands of miles away for their precious little ones. I can't wait until the Army sends my son in law, daughter and little grand daughter back to the states.
LOVE that poem. Happy Mil Spouse Appreciation Day to you!
