1.What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?
Rig the lottery, so I would win. However, I'm still pretty young, so there's hope yet that I might accomplish this goal.
2.What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
Oh geez...this list could go on and on. Actually, this is something I never really discussed here, but my biggest pet peeve would be the hypocrisy that we've encountered in the military.
Before Stonewall deployed he was on ADSW orders for over a year (basically, temporary active-duty orders for the Guard). Literally, a week after he deployed they gave those orders to someone else. When he returned home, Stonewall was jobless. As a member of the Guard people assume that, "He's civilian most of the time, so he has a civilian job to come home to." Not so. Before deploying he was employed by the Army. The Army gave his job to someone else (and that person still has those orders, so had Stonewall not deployed it's entirely possible he would still have them). If a Guardmember has a civilian job and deploys that civilian employer is legally required to give them their job back, with no penalties and as if they never left, when they return home. The Army is, apparently, not held to the same laws.
It just floors me that the military hires people to make sure civilian employers don't screw over those soldiers in the National Guard due to their unique schedules. However, when the military screws over it's own soldiers on the same situation, there is nothing we can do about it, but bend over.
3.What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
The National Watch and Clock Museum. Super intriguing, I know. I'm just as shocked as you that I haven't visited it yet.
4.What are you avoiding doing right now?
Going to the bathroom. I have to poop, but I want to finish writing this post.
Hey, you asked...
5.Wine, beer or liquor?
Wine...straight out of the bottle.

Liquor..."...up front and poker in the rear."

The worlds best picture of us. Ever.
We'll recreate this in October.
Oh, and hooray for bowel movements. I'm jealous.
If I drink wine, it has to be from the bottle.
I did not know the Army did not have to follow the Soldier's & Sailor's Relief Act. Wow.
And #4... yeah, I guess I did ask, didn't I?
duuuude the whole AGR thing and the deployment issue is so not cool!!
<3 the pic!!
rotfl...love your candor on four!
I wrote a whole post about pooping a few days ago, and my husband was so embarrassed. I just had to show him your answer to #4 to let him know that I'm not the only one who calls things like they are! =)
I know #2 (not the poop one) has been an issue for my husband as well. Since he's self employed, his clients don't understand that orders are orders, so they have to either wait or take their business elsewhere. Other people in his unit's have had problems at their jobs as well, when its time for a promotion, they aren't considered since they're not "reliable" like the civilians. In theory, its good, but in the real world, its not, unfortunately.
I hope you took care of the other #2 issues as well!
Thanks for the laughs!
So, the whole Clock and Watch museum...is it bad that my interest is piqued? I'm just trying to think about what that would be like. Probably less interesting than my imagination is making it out to be.
Do you know how much I love you! Seriously....freaking love you! Don't you hate it when you really have to poop, but you HAVE to finish posting something. But then again....if you wait that long, your in and out in a flash, and then right back on the computer again. It's a great system.
Awesome picture ;)
What the Army did to y'all is absolutely insane. It is frustrating how the military likes to toot its horn about taking care of its people and then totally screws us over at every turn. Lame.
