Today we're writing about women who inspire us. I don't have just one woman who inspires me. I have many.
They're the military wives and girlfriends that I have had to the chance to get to "know" right here in blog land. When I read about the deployments, the good-byes and the hellos, the really crappy days and the really amazing days, I hope that I can be as strong as all of them are. Most of them handle whatever the military and life in general throws their way with such grace and strength all by themselves.
Some of my favorite military significant other blogs are (and this is by no means a complete list):
I'm serious. This list could just go on and on. Check out my blogroll of The Most Adored. Over half of them are military significant others. I may never have to pack up an entire house every two years or have to deal with military housing or move away from my entire family. However, I still feel lucky to be counted among them as a military wife because they inspire me to be the best military wife I can be and to be strong for my soldier.
Sisters of the Heart
by Sylvia
The neighbors seem awkward
Old friends slip away
Even the family
Doesn't know what to say
Blue Star in the window
Yellow ribbon 'round the tree
This is the part
That I let the world see
They don't know about
The nights I don't sleep
Or the times that I
Inexplicably weep
But there is a place
That I can always go
No need to explain
They already know
I am safe here
They've got my back
These women whose hearts
Are also in Iraq
Kuwait and Afghanistan
We're all miles apart
But distance doesn't matter
To sisters of the heart
