I Blog Because I'm Vain...Sometimes...

And here we are once again, the last day (well, for SITS, but not for me because I need to catch up on the first two days) of Back 2 Blogging.  Today we're discussing WHY we blog.

Why, oh why, oh why, do I blog?

You mean aside from the fact that I have a narcissistic personality and I like to talk about myself and while I don't want to be driven by comments and followers, a secret part of me rejoices whenever I get one of them and the wanna-be-Captain-of-the-Cheerios in me hopes that you-all really do like me and think I'm one cool cat?

Nope. I have no idea why I blog.

Just kidding.

Okay, well, there really is this narcissistic side of me that really does just loves putting it all out there.  I can't deny that.  I love that my husband is an Officer in the Army and I like to brag about it.  I love that my kid is just about the cutest thing ever and I REALLY love to brag about him.  I think I have a quirky sense of humor that sometimes amounts to a real knee-slapper and I enjoy getting a laugh out of people.  This blog does fuel that vain side of me.

In my real life, I'm really not that important.  Not to say that's a bad thing.  I'm generally very happy with my life.  However, my most important role is Lil Mootz's mommy and while on Mother's Day and all the mommy forums that's "The Most Important Job Ever", let's be honest, until he's President of the USA or the next Ted Bundy, no one really gives a shit. Once again, not saying that's necessarily a bad thing.  It's just part of the reason I blog.  I guess you could say this blog gives me a heightened sense of importance.

Hmmm... the glass must be half empty today.  Are you getting that feeling also?

On a happier side of things, I also blog because I love to write.  I've kept journals since I was a little girl.  A blog is just another journal.  One that's read by all of you, but a journal none-the-less.  I enjoy going back and rereading my older posts.  Who was I three years ago?  Who was I yesterday?  Some days I was happy and other days, no so much.  Some people keep a scrapbook of their lives.  Others have a box full of pictures.

I have a blog.  This is my story.  My life.  The good, the bad, the amusing.  Maybe one day it will be read by my grandchildren and they'll know where they came from.  Maybe one day when I'm a little old lady, I'll reread my blog and I'll know I lived a great life because (most of the time) the glass was half full.

Why do you blog?

If you haven't already joined in with Back 2 Blogging you have until September 19, to do so!  One lucky participant will win Thelma and Louise, a gorgeous turquoise Sky Washer and Dryer from Electrolux, valued at $4,000!  These wonderful sponsors are responsible for making this all happen: Standards of Excellence, Westar Kitchen and Bath, and Florida Builder Appliances

I think most bloggers are at least a little bit narcissistic, although most of us will never admit it. Is that a bad thing? Heck no!

I've always thought that being a mommy was the most important job in the world. I still do. When I was a kid that's all I ever wanted to be. Even after writing the paper on "What I Want To Be When I Grow Up" and being told by my teacher that I needed to set my sites higher and that I was an under achiever.

Now - that I'm getting pretty close to being grown up, I think being a Grandma is pretty cool - so I want to be the best Grandma ever!

The best thing you can give your kids..... or your grandkids.... is yourself.
