One of my favorite things about the holiday season is getting our Christmas tree and decorating it and our house. I love the smell of the tree in our house, the sparkling lights, and sitting on the couch with hot chocolate admiring the finished product. Decorating is the start of the holiday season for me. Even with all the stress of the holiday season, a decorated house keeps me in a festive mood.
This past weekend we went Christmas shopping for the perfect Christmas tree. Lil Mootz was all about running up and down the paths between the trees.
Once we picked out the best tree and got it set up, Lil Mootz helped us hang ornaments. He also enjoyed tearing them down again, but at the age of (almost) 2, I suppose that's part of the fun.
Some of my favorite ornaments are Lil Mootz's first Christmas ornament from Germany at Epcot, Stonewall's and my first Christmas together as husband and wife ornament, and our hidden pickle ornament.
For the first year we have an advent calendar. I mentioned in my traditions post that I was on the lookout for an advent calendar. I didn't find one to buy that I liked, so I made one of our own out of baby socks.
Lil Mootz is certainly enjoying getting his two pieces of chocolate every night before bed. I'm not sure how it's going to go come December 25, and no more chocolate...
We also put up our Christmas Village! I'll admit when I found out Stonewall wanted to put up a Christmas Village I was not thrilled. However, now I'm more excited to get it set up than Stonewall. I love shopping for a new piece every year. This year we bought the North Pole sign and the puppies near the front.
Stonewall also put up our outdoor Christmas lights. The little snowman and reindeer to the left is our new decoration this year.
Decorating this year has been especially exciting. While Lil Mootz doesn't really understand what is going on, he loves the excitement of it all. He loves the ornaments on the tree and the lights on the Christmas Village. I love seeing the looks on his face when he discovers a new ornament or looks at the Village or dances to Christmas music. He is making this holiday even more festive and exciting.
What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?

Gracie got a new Elf on a Shelf. It's pretty cute and it watches her all day and reports back to Santa at night. Then, the next day it's somewhere different in her house and she has to find it. I think she's enjoying that - and licking the frosting bowls from the cookies and the gingerbread house. I wish Christmas would last all year long, but then, I'd run out of money. *lol*
I love all of it!! Christmas Villages make me smile! We have one but it's only 5 houses. I want to build on it more and more!
You have the cutest decorations! I've tried my best to decorate with what little bit of money we have this year, but still, I love your decorations! :)
I love your decorations! I see you have a Christmas Village too! I adore ours, we have a huge collection, but we have very little space for it, so we only put out a few pieces this year. Thanks foe sharing!
