This Road Is Filled With Soul Dust...

Amber at Goodnight Moon has started a new linky called What's Your Song?  Every week you link up your song of the week.  In the past I've listed my favorite songs and my life's soundtrack, so this sounded like an awesome link-up to join in on!

For my first week of participating I'm going to share two songs (yeah, I'm breaking the rules on my first week...) from one of my all time favorite artists.  And when I say "all time" I mean he's been a favorite since before I was a teenager - Rhyne McCormick.

If you have not heard of Rhyne or his music you are so missing out.  Unfortunately, I can't even share my absolute favorite song by him, Molly's Kitchen, because it is so old, it's not even on any of his CDs or on any of the music stations out there.  The first time time I heard Rhyne play I was sitting in his backyard around a bonfire with my dad, sister, and cousin, Justin.  He played Molly's Kitchen and I've been a fan ever since.  Okay, confession... Rhyne is my cousin.  His mom is my dad's sister.  Don't let that get in the way though because I would be talking up his music family relation or not.

The first song I want to share with you all is Soul Dust.  This song is my current ringtone and has been since last October.  My dad put together a slideshow for me when I graduated from college and Soul Dust was the song he used.  Ever since then this song has really spoken to me.  It reminds me that as long as I give my best in my life, then I've done all I can do and I can't really ask much more from myself than that.

The next song is The Train Song.  This song is about another cousin of ours.  When I hear The Train Song, I think of my cousin and I remember so many things about her.  I remember playing Zelda and her pink princess costume.  I remember watching her put on make-up at our Gram's house and thinking she was so pretty.  And I remember her laugh.

Be sure to head over to Rhyne's site and check out more of his songs.  Also, check out his schedule and if he's playing in your area you do not want to miss it! (Or you can just crash our next family reunion because he usually plays there too...)  I'm not sure if he'll play Molly's Kitchen, but it doesn't hurt to ask and you'll find out why it's my favorite.

And be on the look out for photos of my sister's baby shower later today! Two posts in one day...it doesn't happen very often so if it does happen you know it's for a good reason.

The US hates me: Due to licensing restrictions, some or all
tracks may be unavailable for playback in your country.

I did link over to his site tho and I'm stalking him on facebook now. Love it! Thanks for sharing :)

Can't wait for the pictures!

I went to his site, but all I heard was static. :-(

But, hey.... it's probably me. My ears don't work exactly right. Live music is okay, but most of the time if it's recorded, it sounds like static to me. More annoying than enjoyable.

I have never heard of him before! But I love that about this link up because some people are sharing songs others have never heard of before. It's so great!!!! I love that your dad put the song to a slideshow for you as a gift. That is awesome! So...if I ever hear someone's phone ringing to this song...I will find you;)

Thanks for linking up this week! I'll see you again next week!
