When trying to decide what song to share this week I was inspired by none other than little ol' me! Well, my name anyway. Several years back, and I'm talking pre-college graduation, I looked up my name in song lyrics and only one song showed up. One. And it's such a nice name too. But the song was a bit...naughty. Prince has a way with doing that to a song, doesn't he? Don't get me wrong, I'm beyond thrilled that the one song that has my name in it is by Prince, my second most favorite artist and performer and it's from Purple Rain none-the-less, but, well, it's about being a s-e-x fiend.
Um, yeah.
However...
After some extensive research I've discovered that since that college search other songs have been written about us Nikkis. And I've picked my favorite to share with you all. I can't understand the lyrics to save my life because it's jamaican (which f*ckin rocks!), but it's a take on Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey!" And as a child I used to sing the song as "Hey Nikki!" Who am I kidding? I still sing "Hey Nikki!" whenever I hear that song! (In fact, when I'm done writing this I'm going to play it while singing obnoxiously loud and dancing.)
So here it is, "Hey Nikki!" by Elephant Man...
Oh, and that Prince song, "Darling Nikki" is thrown in for good measure because I know you're all dying to hear a song about a s-e-x fiend.

I know you would think there would be at least one decent songs about us. I also use to change the lyrics to that song.
LOL! Every time I talk to my mother and step father out east, they start singing the "Hey Nikki you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, hey Nikki! Hey, hey, hey Nikki!" And now... I'm going to have it in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks. LOL!!

FABULOUS! I once did a search for my and my husbands names on iTunes. My name yielded MUCH better reusltsand since, two of my favrite songs are both titled Elizabeth with a third including it in the title. He only got one as well. Name songs are AWESOME! Great feel good tune to start the day, and who doesn't love the vibe of Jamaican music? Thanks for sharing!
