The first one I am not so exciting about...
Stonewall is "moving" to Maryland. Remember that job he got back in February? And remember the hour and a half drive to Maryland I mentioned? Yeah, well...it's more like anywhere from two to two and a half hours and it's getting the best of him. Actually, it's getting the best of both of us. He's miserable by the time he gets home after battling through rush hour traffic. Then I'm miserable that he's miserable, so then we're both miserable. Which is pretty miserable.
Plus, the extra gas money is destroying our budget.
Stonewall made an executive decision and found a room down in Maryland for an incredibly amazing price. He'll be living down there during the week and coming home on the weekends. We are hoping this will save his sanity as well as some money.
I'm not super thrilled with this arrangement. It's definitely not as bad as a deployment because we are within driving distance (and he's not in a war zone), but he's still not home with me and Lil Mootz! I'm back to being on trash duty and sleeping alone and Stonewall is back to being away from his family most of the time.
Total bummer...

And then there is the change I'm looking forward to...
Within the next month or so (hopefully sooner) you'll see some pretty huge changes here on the ol' blog. The Pink Park Bench is getting a whole body makeover. New header, new background, and a new name. New everything! And I've seen the first draft and it is worth every penny!
I know, I know. It was about this time last year that I revamped everything, but I'm just not happy with the way things look around here. I'm not leaving the Pink Park Bench. That bench is still my little Internet haven from the real world, but "Yummy Mummy" is being retired. I'm just not feeling it anymore. I'm not really sure I ever was feeling "Yummy," so I'm switching it up again. I found my inspiration in an old love from college, Greek mythology, a new love, my Lil Mootz, and a love that has followed me around my whole life, writing.
It's pretty sweet, so I'm dancing-on-tiptoes excited!

Good luck with everything! You're so brave to do the "geo-bachelor" thing... That conversation came up *briefly* when Hubs said there's a possibility we could get transferred to Northern VA. I told him that there was no reason we couldn't both move and that the Navy gives us enough separation as it is and I don't want to volunteer for extra....but that is just me! I'm praying you guys are able to make the most out of a less-than-desirable situation!!!

Oh gosh, I can see why a two hour drive would be draining. :( I hope the new week day living arrangement will make things easier for the two of you.

It sucks that Stonewall needs to move away during the week, but it does sound like the better option. I hope it works out the best way it can for your family.

And sorry to hear that you and Stonewall will be apart during the week. But, I'm glad you get to spend weekends together!

I'm sorry your hubby has to sleep elsewhere. I can't imagine dealing with that situation, but if it ever came up - we'd make the same decision.
Also, I love revamping my blog. I don't go to designers, so it's easier to switch things up. I can't wait to see what you have in store!
